One of the liveliest neighborhoods in Singapore, Joo Chiat/Katong offers both traditional and modern worlds blending together. Peranakan houses are the iconic pastel color shophouses on Koon Seng Road and a major tourist attraction for every visitor. They have become one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore.
It’s impossible to talk about nice places to take pictures in Singapore and not mention these traditional houses that were once inhabited by Peranakan Chinese. 8. Chinese Garden
In the hustle-bustle of the city, these gardens offer peaceful mornings making you feel closer to nature and the greenery. The garden is huge so make sure to have your walking shoes on but the only Instagram-worthy spot in the Chinese garden is the pagoda which is not too far from the main entrance. So, if you don’t want to roam around the whole garden, walking shoes are not necessary.

9. National Orchid Garden in Singapore Botanic Gardens
The Singapore Botanic gardens are huge, lush, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The gardens are open daily from 5 am till 12 midnight and are free to enter. Take a stroll and see the turtles in the lake. More than 10,000 species of flora are spread over its 82-hectares area so be prepared to walk a lot.
Though the Botanic Gardens have only a few places to shoot, the most Instagram famous place is the arch and it is located in the National Orchid Garden. There is a small fee to enter the National Orchid Garden but seeing all the variety of orchids, the fee is worth it.

10. Japanese Cemetery Park
Located in Hougang, this is the largest Japanese Cemetery in Southeast Asia. The cemetery is not an active burial ground and serves more like a memorial park. The park is known for its lush greenery and Japanese-inspired architecture. It’s home to a long row of archways decorated with a native plant species, bougainvillea. When the flowers are in bloom, the archways make for a picturesque photo reminiscent of springtime.

11. Fort Canning Park
Formerly known as the ‘Forbidden Hill’, Fort Canning Park is amongst the most historic places in Singapore. It’s a place where you will feel close to nature. The park is a beautiful area with several gardens inspired by the history of Singapore including the Raffles Garden, Spice Garden, and the new Sang Nila Utama Garden which is inspired by the first king of Singapore and located close to the Clarke Quay entrance.

12. Telok Blangah Hill Park
Located in Bukit Merah, Telok Blangah Hill Park is situated at Telok Blangah Green, off Henderson Road. This park is located about 15mins walk from Telok Blangah MRT.
The park is huge so look for signs directing you to the terrace garden. It has 3 levels and there are a lot of perspectives to shoot here. The flowers on top seem to bloom better.

SUVARNA’S TIP: Try to go early morning at around 7 am to take pictures peacefully. Apart from a few joggers and runners, you may not encounter anyone. A weekday is always better than a weekend.

13. Artscience Museum
If there is one place in Singapore that is fun, learning and so visually beautiful then it has to be the Artscience museum. You will be in awe of every installation that it has but my favorite one was the crystal world. The change of lights with soothing music was so pleasing and soulful.
There are various exhibitions in the venue including the permanent Future World exhibition & the Digital Light Canvas exhibition. Skip the line and get your entry ticket to the ArtScience Museum here. This ticket doesn’t include the entrance to special exhibitions. You will need to check at the counter if there is any special exhibition going on that requires a separate ticket.

SUVARNA’S TIP: It opens at 10 am and I suggest you go there by 9:45 am and be the first one to enter so that you can see and shoot the beautiful exhibitions without fighting a lot of people.
14. Cloud Forest
Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay is an impressive place. Singapore is a hot and humid country and Cloud Forest is a perfect place to cool off. Stand in awe in front of the world’s second-tallest indoor waterfall inside and feel the vibes of misty tropical mountains.
It’s very lush and you get to see and learn about a wide variety of plants and vegetation some of which are carnivores to so be careful!

SUVARNA’S TIP: Cloud Forest opens at 9 am and I highly suggest you buy your ticket prior and be the first one inside as it gets crowded really fast. Also, remember to take your wide-angle lens with you.
15. Floral Fantasy
Floral Fantasy is the newest addition to the attractions at the Gardens by the Bay. It is located at Bayfront Plaza, next to the exit of Bayfront MRT station.
This place will blow your mind with all the flowers and technology that have been put together to create floral magic. It’s a dream-like, fantastical experience for visitors and one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore to take pictures.

16. The Rain Vortex
Deemed the world’s best airport, Changi Airport in Singapore is an attraction in itself. You can easily spend a few hours here and wouldn’t get bored for a second. There are a variety of attractions on different terminals but this added attraction in April 2019 to Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport takes the cake of being one of the best photography spots in Singapore.
The Rain Vortex is the world’s tallest indoor waterfall standing at 40 meters high and surrounded by a forest setting. Earlier the indoor waterfall inside Cloud Forest at Gardens by the bay held this title. The Rain Vortex looks splendid when the water cascades down the dome-shaped roof that has 9,000 pieces of glass.
The myriad of offerings at Changi Airport doesn’t end at the Rain Vortex, you can find Enchanted gardens, Hedge Maze, Art Installations, and much more here, all of which are Instagrammable places in Singapore. For all the other attractions, visit the Changi Airport website.
SUVARNA’S TIP: I recommend going to the Vortex in the evening so that you can see the FREE light show! The timings of the light show are 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm, 9.30 pm, 10.30 pm, and 12.30 pm.
17. Orchard Library
Although libraries are not the typical go-to place for a photoshoot, Orchard Library is an exception. It is a public library located on the third and fourth floor of Orchard Gateway mall and it’s one of those aesthetic places in Singapore where you just want to take out your camera.
The curve bookshelves make it look very artsy and since this library is inside a mall so it’s a perfect excuse to escape the humid weather of Singapore if you are into reading or into photography.
OPENING HOURS: 11 AM – 9 PM daily
HOW TO GET THERE: Take the train on the North-South line to the nearest MRT, Somerset Station. Then walk towards the Orchard Gateway Mall.

18. Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
Apart from all the beautiful architecture, colorful places, and man-made wonders, Singapore has quite a few places of religious importance that are equally beautiful and Instagram-worthy.
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is one of them. Located in the Chinatown district of Singapore, the Buddha Tooth relic temple is a Buddhist temple and museum. Being a place of religious importance it goes without saying that you have to be respectful here.
As beautiful as the exterior and architecture of this temple are, the inside is astonishingly stunning. The sense of peaceful and positive vibes this place provides you will touch your soul.

The temple looks stunning when it shines at night and makes such a stunning background for night photos. Also, as this temple is located in Chinatown, you are can roam around here and eat to your heart’s content.
19. Masjid Sultan
The major tourist attraction near Haji Lane is Masjid Sultan Mosque. This beautiful mosque is the focal point of Singapore’s Muslim community and is a prominent place of worship. It is best known for its golden dome and will definitely impress you.
The street in front of it is quite famous for food. But this is also an area of indie boutiques, restored shophouses, and street art.

SUVARNA’S TIP: As this is a place of worship and also the lane is pretty famous and small, it gets crowded at around 10 am. So be here at around 8 am to have it all to yourself.
20. Sri Mariamman Temple
Located in Chinatown, Sri Mariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu temple dedicated to a folk goddess with the same name and it dates back to 1827. It was built by immigrants from Southern India in Dravidian style and features a five-floored gopuram (entrance tower) embellished with Hindu deities and ornamental decorations.
Due to its historical significance and architecture, Sri Mariamman Temple has been announced as a National monument and hence has become a major tourist attraction. The main characteristic of this temple is its architecture and colors. Not only the entrance is colorful but there are plenty of colorful spots inside the temple too.
There is a small fee to take photos inside the temple.

The Hive, also known as the learning hub is a cool building located at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. It is a co-working space and is very famous for its ‘dim sum basket’ architecture. I’ve been to Singapore three times now and this city never gets old. There are so many beautiful places here. The Rain Vortex at the airport is so cool! I had a seven-hour layover a few months ago and I spent all seven hours exploring the airport.
